5 Ways To Motivate Employees

by | Jul 19, 2022 | Uncategorized

Dear Business Partner,

Have you ever noticed the impact communication has on you? The way we communicate and interact with our employees can have a significant impact on their motivation and productivity.

I like greeting my staff in a positive and friendly manner every day and I expect the same of them towards each other.

Why do we need to motivate our employees? Employee motivation is key to an organisation’s success. I want my employees to be focussed. I want them to want to come to work.

I USE THESE 5 STRATEGIES TO MOTIVATE MY STAFF

  1. Provide immediate feedback. Your employee might be very excited about the tasks he or she has just completed and will get a stronger feeling of investment from your side when you give immediate feedback. This way they can move forward to the next task and know exactly what is expected of them.
  2. Encourage breaks and physical activity – I have always been a big believer in short breaks. This way employees know they can watch their phones later when they get their 10 min break every hour. I don’t know about you, but even I benefit from a 5 – 10-minute break every hour. Not all of us can provide a gym at the office, but we can encourage physical activity. If this means that your employee might want to start 30min later or leave 30min earlier on Tuesdays and Thursdays to join the running club, why not consider it? You will see the difference.
  3. Reward Accomplishments – employees place great value on workplace recognition. Also keep in mind that rewarding personal accomplishments that are connected to a company’s overall mission and goals has a direct effect on organisational success.
  4. Provide Career and Educational Development Opportunities – here we can use the data we gather form our employees – employees are loyal and dedicated to employers who invests in their employees. If they show interest in a certain course or training, identify how you can support them. This can be financially or as a mentor in the field. And do not think it is only the top employees that wants to study or learn more. I want to encourage you to do this study with all your employees. You might be surprised.
  5. Encourage employee input and creativity – I have seen a lot of times people are not forthcoming with ideas, this can be because they don’t feel they have a voice. So do not ignore the voice of the employees, when they know, they are encouraged to make suggestions, this will also motivate them to find creative ways to improve the workplace.

Try this and let me know the difference it made in your business.
