What Are You Doing To Have The Best Team?

by | Jan 24, 2023 | Human Resources

Dear Business Partner,

While I am listening to the rain outside, not normal for this time of year for us, but I am always grateful for rain and the water for my garden, I am thinking of the challenges companies in South Africa experience currently. First like the rest of the world there was Covid, and everyone had to work from home. Now we find that everyone wants to continue to work from home and not all employers are ready for this shift yet. And on top of that we have loadshedding. This brings you to the point where you probably must decide between adding a generator, inverter, solar panel, or employing that much needed team member or closing your doors.

RECRUITING in today’s world is a challenging task. It is becoming more so as teams and resources shrink – yet the desired outcomes remain the same.

Having the right candidate for the right job is the most valuable asset to an organization. However, the main challenge for a start-up or a well-established company is to attract top-talented and qualified people to their team.

Here are 6 common recruiting challenges faced by Business Owners

  1. Attracting the right candidates
You’ll choose the best person you can find at the time—not always the best fit for the job.
  2. Engaging qualified candidates
You need to put extra effort into persuading passive candidates to choose your company over your competitors. The hiring process may be too long or hiring teams might struggle to reach a consensus, resulting in the best candidates finding jobs elsewhere.
  3. Using data-driven recruitment
Collecting and processing data can be a hassle. Spreadsheets are one way to track hiring data, but they require manual work, which is time you could have used in a better way.
  4. Building a strong employer brand
Organizations that invest in employer branding are three times more likely to make a quality hire. Yet, it’s a complex process that includes anything from ensuring a positive candidate experience to promoting your culture on social media.
  5. Ensuring a good candidate experience
The way you treat candidates during the hiring process mirrors the way you’ll treat them after hiring. If they had a bad experience, they’re less likely to accept. Positive candidate experiences can enhance your employer brand and encourage good candidates to apply and accept your job offers.
  6. Recruiting fairly
Many companies struggle to attract and hire diverse candidates and unconscious biases are often the reason. Hiring objectively is good for business because it helps you hire the best person for the job without stereotypes interfering.
Let us take this unwanted stress off your shoulders by finding the right person for the right job. Welcome!
